Does it weird anyone else out that sometimes the things that happen to us seem like they are preparing us for war?

Take a break up for example.

The whole time you are going through it, it feels like you are in the war. Like you are fighting for every breath you take.

But what if that is just the beginning.

What if the real war, is when ¬†friend breaks up? A friend’s family member passes on? An unexpected accident happens to a family you are close to?

That is the real war.

It is the real war because there is nothing you can do to fix their pain because only time can fix it.

All you can do is sit with them as they weather the storm. Because what are friends for?

Friends bring the umbrellas, raincoats, rain boots, and snacks. Then, together, you wait for the storm to pass and for the rainbow to appear.

Heartbreak is harsh. It is jagged. It is messy. It is a part of the human experience.

So, when you aren’t the the heartbroken one, remember that the person next to you at the grocery store of the man next to you at the red light probably is.
